New Fascinations

Zane is fascinated by many things (keys, phones, the mail, etc.) but has a few that are stand-outs lately: cups (or soda bottles), the TV remote, and Chelsea.
He does not hesitate to reach for any cup/glass/bottle that any adult might have nearby when holding or playing with him. He's been known to reach into a cup, peer into it long enough to add drool to your drink, and frequently dumps water onto his own face using a cup in the bath. He knows what a cup is for and how to use it, but needs to work on the details.
His love of the remote control for the TV is so great that we had to retrieve one of the older ones we aren't using to be his alone. Even still, he has many ploys he'll use to get his hands on the "real" remote - though once he has it, his favorite thing is to chew on it. Just a quick note - except for the occasional baseball game or weekend morning cartoons, we don't usually let him watch TV. He does love to watch the Rangers play, however! In the photo below, he was watching a game in his chair, but notice his remote is there with him (by his foot). Ah, and then there is Chelsea - she has the upper hand for now, as Zane isn't really mobile yet. He stops any activity (playing, eating, crying) if she enters the room. He knows to look for her if he hears the tags on her collar jingle. And he longs to touch her! She has on rare occasion let him "pet" her while Paul or I hold him, but generally she's happier not to be touched by Zane. She does tease him, though - staying just out of reach while rolling, stretching, and meowing to keep his attention. She will be the reason he crawls or walks, I'm sure of it! We haven't told her that he will be able to get to her far longer than she's going to be able to tease him.
